Business Opportunities in Iraq

Opportunities are available in the following areas:

  • Irrigation
  • Industrial size greenhouses
  • Cold storage & refrigeration equipment (mainly for transportation)
  • Carbon sequestration through forestry
  • New tractors & combine harvesters
  • Food safety standards and procedures
  • Better transparency on land tenure
  • Detailed study of land use across KRG
  • Agriculture training and education
  • Organic certification

In addition to the opportunities above, the British Government in Iraq is seeking to establish education links with Kurdistan Regional Government, with regard to agriculture.

This is a large project expected to last for two to three years. The main part of the project would be the creation of a 'model farm' that could act as a training centre for agricultural students and a vocational base for existing farmers. They are therefore looking for a partner of an established UK agricultural college to take things forward.
